Jan 21-27 Paint Walls and start flooring

Jan 21st Monday - So with the kids being out of school Bowdee had a birthday party to go to and Matia and Treg went to play at Emilee's while I went on a hot lunch date with my honey. We went to Lowe's and they had some vinyl flooring on clearance but our store didn't have enough it was on clearance for $0.62 a sq/ft. So we went to Murray and they had the same stuff for $0.16 a sq foot with a 25 year warranty/stain master/usually $1.27 sq/ft then we got a 5% discount off that so we bought the whole roll. It's not what we would like in our dream home but it will be perfect for the farm home.

Jan 22nd-25th we spent down at the farm once again I would paint the walls while Terry would start doing the light fixtures. We worked really hard to complete all the painting before the weekend so we could start the flooring. To install they vinyl it costs $1.11 a sq/ft so Terry decided to try it again. He did a room in our Eagle Mnt. home and he kicked a whole through the stuff. So he is a bit nervous but I am sure he will do a fantastic job! Thank you Mindy for helping me paint on Wed. that really helped so much!

Jan 26th Saturday - Right after the basketball games Terry and I rented the pressure roller for $22.00 a day at Home Dept. Took a deep breath and started laying the vinyl. It took us a little longer then we expected but slow and easy was our thinking. Luckily Kami came to visit and ended up helping us install our first piece. Which was the hardest because we were so nervous of what we were doing. Thank you Kami for helping us out.

Jan 27th Sunday - Bright and early we let the kids sleep in while we headed to the farm for more flooring fun! So we worked from 7 in the morning until 6 at night installing the kitchen and cutting out the hall, laundry, and bath. Half way through we did pick up the kids, have lunch and return the roller but that was our only break. Yes, we are getting beat but Terry reminds me still we are getting closer. We came home and relaxed to some good old football game. Both of us too tired to do anything else.

Jan 14th-20th Primer/White Paint

Jan 14-18th we spent the week nights again down at the farm chalking the trim, taping, painting the floor and getting ready for primer on Saturday. It was alot of late nighters but we are getting excited to see it all start coming together. My mom and dad left for a 2 week cruise in Hawaii so we are babysitting their poodle Maggie and doing all the feeding chores. It's just hard because we don't live there. But man I love those animals at the farm!

Jan 19th Saturday - So right after Treg's Basketball game we headed down to the farm to spray the primer. It took us 6 hours but we did it. Terry of course does such an excellent job at everything he does. Seriously you would think I would get used to his excellence but he still amazes me. And the house already looks better. I am excited for the other paint now.

Jan 20th Sunday - Of course we went back to the farm after picking up another 5 gallons of paint just to make sure we had enough. Then we went down and started spraying the white trim, doors, closets, ceiling. We still didn't have enough paint so after 6&1/2 hours and 17 gallons of paint we finally finished her. It looks amazing now to pick out the colors.

Jan 7-13th Sanding/Trim Basketball Starts

Jan 7-10th we spent the weeknights at basketball practices, sanding texture and starting trim work. I had a really bad week, I am just so tired and it seems like there is no hope in sight of ever moving to the farm. Kyle and Emilee just bought a beautiful house down by our farm and they are already moving in and we aren't even painting. But Terry reminds me every day that we are getting closer. So lets hope he is right.

Jan 11th Friday - Tonight Bowdee and Coach Terry had their first Basketball game so let the games begin. They didn't win but Bowdee had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block. It is fun to watch the boys get more competitive. They lost 45 to 28 but they played hard and they are learning how each other plays most of the other teams have been together for years. Anyway good playing Bowdee, I sure love to watch you play!

Jan 12th Saturday - Treg's 1st basketball game was at 8:00 in Alpine. I wasn't able to go because I had to get Matia to her basketball game on time. But Terry said he played really good and did his best. I still can't believe we have to drive all the way up to Alpine to get a court for them to play on.

Matia's 1st basketball game was at 9:00 at the Jr. High. She is on the same team with the same coach as she has had for years. Which is a good thing we love her team it makes it so fun for her. She also had 2 of her close friends that she dances with join the team so she is just loving it. She is still that aggressive tough player and we all love watching her play. Of course she is now the shortest player on the team.

After all the games were over we headed down to the farm to start installing the trim. Bowdee helped us and it is fun to see him get trained in these kinds of things. He had fun doing it and he thinks it is way cool that he is helping us finish the house. He is really becoming a great helper. Terry almost prefers his help to mine.

Dec 31-Jan 6 AJ Wedding/Wendover Break

Dec 31st Monday - Terry woke up at 6:00 and decided he just couldn't go into work and that he wanted to spend the day trying to get the texture on the walls done today. So I got out of my nice warm bed that lies on the floor, pushed it up against the wall and away we went. We worked until about 5:00 and yes we got all the texture on the walls. The best part of the day was when my biggest brother Clint came to visit the farm and see what we have been up to the last 6 months.

We went home got dressed made some Jalapeno Poppers then went to our Garrick friends house. We did make it until midnight although I must say Matia, Treg, and I were really struggling. Kami called and asked me the infamous question of what my new years resolution was and I told her "to move into my farm house and become a farmer again" She didn't think that was a fair one. But that is how well I do with New Year Resolutions. My brother Clint would also be disappointed in that answer.

Jan 1st Tuesday - So we all slept in a little longer then normal then we headed down to the farm. Terry and I set some doors and built some closet shelves. Kami came down to work their horses and the Garricks came down to play. Adi & Emma stayed and went sledding with Bowdee and Iz while Tia and Treg stayed inside trying to warm up from a good horse riding session.

Then we came home and had our annual Fondue Feast! This year the favorite was the mozzarella sticks with Marinara Sauce in them. But this is by far the kids favorite dinner all year long. Bowdee seems to enjoy food way more then any of the other kids but they all loved it and said they will for sure carry this tradition on into their families when they are married and moved on.

Jan 2nd Wednesday - Today my sweet nephew AJ married Choryn in the SLC temple. I can't tell you how happy I am for him. He has always been such a sweet loving boy so full of happiness and joy. I love you AJ and I wish you and Choryn the very best in your marriage. It was fun going up to see them at the temple and having a luncheon at the Lion House. It was COLD VERY VERY COLD but it was so very nice and beautiful.

After AJ's sweet luncheon we all went down to show Colt and Ephia the Crazy Creek Ranch. It was still cold and very dark so they couldn't get the whole just of it. But it gave them a good idea of what we have gotten ourselves into and they were excited for us. I just love it when our family comes home and we can all be together. We at Cafe Rio after and just talked late into the night about this's and that's. Love them all!

Jan 3rd Thurs - Back to school. The kids were so very sad that their Christmas break was over and I was too. I do not like homework or the not being able to do just anything but it is part of life so we must not complain. After preschool I got to go to lunch with Ephia, Stella, Kathy, Ang, Mom and Dad. After we did a little shopping for mom and dads cruise that is coming up. It's just nice to have them near! I wish I could go out on a lunch with these ladies every week of the year. I will miss them.

Jan 4th Friday - So Terry and I are both just exhausted and we just couldn't go work in that farm house one more night without some major break. So instead we dropped the dogs off at their fav. babysitter (my mom & dads) then we loaded up the kids and headed to Wendover. You just can't beat a free room for a nice fast getaway. We grabbed dinner at Subway took it to our room and we all just relaxed and vegged in front of the T.V. I know we could have done that at home. BUT... I can't cuz there's always something to be done.

So Terry and I went out for a little dancing that night when all of a sudden my girls Tonja and Holly snuck up on us. They totally knew I was out there and came out to surprise us. We had so much fun. Poor Terry the only man with all 3 of us crazy ladies. I think he liked the attention he got. We stayed out dancing and just feeling like we were dating. It felt so nice! I love you Terry thanks for loving my friends and putting up with us.

Jan 5th Saturday - After we checked out we ventured back to the big city of Grantsville to make a birthday dinner for Terry's sweet mom and dad. We did this last year and we loved it because it was just us and them and time to chit chat like you can't when the whole family is there. Matia and Treg were the entertainment during dinner with their silly off the wall comments. Terry provided the perfectly cooked dinner of Salmon, Smoked Brisquette, corn bread, potatoes, and turtle brownies. Thank you for a perfect night.

Jan 6th Sunday - Back to the reality that we still are living in a basement sharing one room and our farmhouse where we would really like to be right now is just textured and has so much work to be done. Terry and I pried ourselves out of bed and headed back to work. We finished all the shelving in the closets. Troy and his girls and Kami came by for a quick hello which was nice to have a little distraction. I was just glad we got the closets finished.

Dec 24-30 Christmas Vacation

Dec 24th Monday - We started out at the farm working again... we got alot accomplished well it feels like it even if we didn't see alot get done. Then we wrapped a few gifts that were hidden in the stall barn and headed home. We ate a nice roast dinner, watched Christmas movies and tried to sleep so Santa could come. But at 12:30 we were all still wide awake with our eyes shut, trying as best we could to fall asleep.

Dec 25th Tuesday - Grandpa came over at 5:45 and waited for the call of when he should bring in our Daisy  package. Grandma was home sick with the flu and just so sad she wasn't there to see Tregs reaction. We gave him Daisy first and he was so excited, so was Daisy so it made for a little confusion, I didn't help much by insisting on getting the perfect picture with the bow and name tag on her before she ripped it off.

After the confusion settled a little we opened all our gifts from Santa. Treg got his dog supplies he asked for and a few lego animals. Matia got her waterproof, freeze proof, and drop proof camera so she can have it on the farm at all times. Bowdee got the NFL 2012 full card collection that he asked for and he also got a weight lifting bench that surprised him. I got a nice jacket to use on the farm with gloves and a belt buckle. Terry got some new cowboy boots.

After all the gifts were unwrapped and sorted we headed to the farm to do some feeding. Grandpa jumped right on feeding the horses and we were going to help when Matia heard her gift crying for her breakfast. She didn't hesitate she ran right over and opened her package that was wrapped in a stall. Her sweet Cocoa Jones she calls her. She was so excited and just couldn't leave her alone.

Bowdee unwrapped his gift and he was super excited to get a pool/ping pong table.  Treg unwrapped his after Bowdee and he got a kennel big enough for his sweet Daisy. So they were all happy and excited, horses we fed, this cute photo was taken and then I needed to go inside for a minute...

and I had to visit the bathroom in the house when I discovered Santa had left a big wrapped gift for the family in our bedroom it was a gun safe like the one Terry has wanted for the last 10 years! It was a picture perfect Christmas everyone as happy as could be we just missed having grandma here to enjoy it with us.

Dec 26th Wednesday - The Crawfords are in town so we were so very excited to have them come visit us on the farm. Ted is extremely allergic to horses, but we took them around to see what we have got ourselves into. We just love them like crazy what a sweet sister Terry has and fun brother-in-law.

Dec 27th Thursday - Terry was suppose to go back to work today but he decided the roads were not safe enough so he just worked from home. It was fun to have him here and I wish he could work from home more often. During lunch we took a quick load to the dump (I know dead sexy huh). Then after work we went right to work at the farm when we got there Kami was there unloading her 2 horses.

She got Goliath for Lakota to try for the winter (but really I think she just wanted him for her). Then she got this cute mustang for Izak. Her name is Cedar and she was from North Logan. Izak is just so into this horse thing lately. I love to see his passion. I really hope these 2 horses turn out to be some good horses. Kami has put so much work into finding the right thing for her kids.

Dec 28th Friday - After taking the kids to ToysRus, Buildabear, Target photos for Bowdee and lunch with Terry we went to visit Matia's sweet penpal Lovie. She has been a LONG time friend of my moms that Matia just loves to pieces. We had a great visit setting up a lamp my parents gave her and chit chatting about this and that. When we got in the car mom got a call from Kami. There had been an accident with Izak and his new horse.

He was tying her up when Cedar freaked and pulled back cinching the rope on his hand and pulling him down, she reared up and hit her hoof to Izaks front tooth breaking it at the gums, he fell back hit his head on the fence and climbed under the fence to get away. He ended up breaking the tooth off and the roots were shattered and pushed up into his nostril bone. So they had to take him into surgery to remove all the pieces. Just so sad I feel for him!

Then after visiting him and feeling so bad for him that I wanted to cry. Tammie and Ted called and invited us up to SLC to have dinner with them. So we got KFC on the way up to Little America and we had a FABULOUS night just talking about life. Then we went to check out the City Creek Center which we had not done yet. It was fun to see the lights and the amazing center. Man we sure love this cute couple we always have so much fun when we are together. Thanks Tammie and Ted for a great date night!

Dec 29th Saturday - Terry enjoyed a day on the slopes with Tammie and Ted at good ol' Brighton. I was jealous but we just don't have the money to spend on playing right now. So I sent him to have a good time and I stayed with the kids and we had fun playing at the farm, then we went to watch Wreck it Ralph which was so super cute. Then Tonja and Holly called to see if I could sneak away for the night. So we went to eat and shopped a little. I just am so thankful for such good friends.

Dec 30th Sunday - Bright and early Terry and I headed down to the farm to start texturing the ceiling in hopes that we could finish it. I wasn't much help since Bowdee was doing such a great job helping Terry so I spent the day in the garage cleaning and reorganizing it. It looked alot better after I worked on it for a while. Terry and Bowdee finished the ceiling and at the end of the day we were all exhausted. Then we came home and Kyles girls slept over. Man I love those girls and I love how they play so well together.

Dec 17- 23 Christmas Dance/recitals

 

Dec 17th Monday - Tonight Matia had her dance performance. Which of course I have been excited for all day. But when Terry came home he was literally bouncing off the walls. I am sure my neighbors were thinking there was an earthquake going on downstairs. But it was just Terry with his excitement to see Matia dance. It was the first time I had been in the Lehi Jr. High since I graduated there and that was strange. (She is the one in the front right side of your screen)

There was very little seating so it seemed crazy but just before Matia's dance a family left a row empty and we got to move up so we could see better. Matia did fabulous she is so fun to watch. She has loved dance this year with her good friends Maddie and Emeree. She has a hard time on Thursdays because she has piano, homework then straight to dance. But I keep reminding her someday she will be happy she made it through all those long hard Thursday nights.

I have been waiting to post this because we had a secret we were keeping. It has been the hardest secret to keep. Driving both Terry and I CRAZY!!! You see Saturday I went shopping and bought something so special for Treg and her name is Daisy well her name was Tia but that just wasn't going to work in our family without some major confusion. So I renamed her to be Daisy. This is what she looked like when we first got her.

Dec. 18th Tuesday - I spent the day enjoying our preschool Christmas party at school. The kids were so very fun to watch open gifts from each other and finish their gifts for their family. I love to see them all show up with their preschool pj's and when they see me and Chris with the same ones they get sooo excited. We just have so much fun watching movies, playing games, exchanging gifts, and making crafts. Love you preschoolers!

Then after Terry got off work we went to visit Daisy the Dog the newest member of our family that can't even live with us for another week because I am determined to make this a BIG Christmas surprise. So we took our clippers and gave her a nice trim job. She was so patient the whole time and it took us at least an hour to get her to look nice. I can't tell you how excited I am to give her to Treg!!!

Dec. 19th Wednesday - Today I got some major stuff accomplished! I hit about 5 stores for returns, bought some last minute stuff, took the kitten in to get fixed, took Daisy in to get micro chipped and rabies shots, then back just in time to hide the dog, and pick up the kids from school. With this being their last day of school they were all pretty excited. We let them spend the night just chillin' while Terry and I headed to the farm to tear down the double doors in the master bath to put in one door to have more usable room.

Dec. 20th Thursday - With the kids out of school I decided to get Matia's photos taken at Target because I never like their school ones. So we did that and then did lunch with Terry. Which I found out we had a major mishap at the farm. A couple nights ago we put Kamis 2 horses in the big stall together because they hate being apart so bad. Well one of her horses freaked out and kicked the smaller horse "Apache" and punctured her lungs, we had to put her down. It was super sad and we learned a major lesson today. Apache was 24 years old and her teeth were all falling out and she wasn't doing the best anyway but it was still sad. After work Terry and I went down and put up the wall and framed in the new door to the master bathroom.

Dec 21st Friday - Then I took Treg to get his photos done today at Target and after we went to Pat's BBQ with Terry for lunch. He had bought some coupons on Groupon for half price and he was so excited to share this delicious lunch with us. The kids hated the 1 hour wait for the food but the music was good and the food was finally worth it once we got it. Bowdee was especially appreciative of it since he is a major food lover right now.

Dec 22nd Saturday - We again spent most of the day down at the farm working on a little of this and a little of that. The kids had fun running around outside mostly but when they got cold and came inside this is what Matia and Treg spent most of their time doing. I just love that they can be so happy just doing what they do. The house seems to be coming along so slowly that it feels like we will never be able to move in.

At 2:30 I left with my mom and dad to go "Look at a horse for Iz". When really we were headed up to Morgan to pick up a goat I had bought for Matia about a month ago. The family was so nice to hold the goat for me until closer to Christmas. I was so impressed with the girls I bought her from they were about 12 and 14. Reminded me of Kami and I as kids they had the coolest little farm in their back yard and they did all the work themselves. I am so excited to give Tia this cute little Oberhausi & Nubian/Nigerian Dwarf goat she is

Dec 23rd Sunday - This morning when Terry and I went to the farm to feed and work. I was pretty upset to see my sweet Miss Holly Kay had been bitten by something on her right leg. There were 2 punctures about 1&1/2 inches apart and blood dripping from them. I tell you what I need to get living down there to see what is killing the chickens and attacking my horses.

About lunch time we went home to eat and bring the kids down to help us do a little clean up around the farm before the snow comes. They were such good troopers and I don't think I heard one complaint. They moved wood to the hay barn the filled up this trailer with trash from the house and yard. Man I just love my kids and the hard workers they are becoming.

After we were finished working at the farm we hurried home to decorate a Christmas Cake and then head to Mom and Dads for a quick dinner and piano recital. I just can't tell you how much I love living by my family so we can enjoy short moments like this. The recital was so nice to see how much each of the kids have improved over the last year. I know they don't always love it but it is so rewarding to see their improvement. Thanks mom and dad for all you do for us and the kids.

Dec 10-16 Christmas Parties

Dec 14th Friday - Tonight Treg had a party with his church class. They had a fun time going caroling, watching a Christmas movie, and delivering treats in the ward. What great teachers they had. I expected them to be gone 1 hour but 3 hours later is when he got home. What a fun time he had. Terry and I went to the farm to work on the ceiling where it had been cracked. So pretty soon we will be all done with the sheet rock.

Dec 15th Saturday - Terry's aunt Kathy puts together a Christmas Party each year since she moved back from California. I know how much work it takes to pull something off like that and I am so grateful she gives us this opportunity to mingle with cousins each year. Terry and the kids had a great time looking through some old photos of grandpa Hagers and visiting w/ family. However, I sent Terry and the kids while I had an appointment to make up in Clinton about a wiggly Christmas gift. I had GREAT success and now I am so excited for Christmas!!!

Then that night Terry and I went to a party for Clayton's girlfriend Heather who just graduated to become a nurse. She has gone through alot of work to make this happen so we are so happy for her. We always have a good time talking and laughing with these good people. Some of them we only see but once a year so it was nice to see them again.

Dec 16th Sunday - Terry and I went on a hot date to do a little more Christmas shopping in the morning. Then we went to our Townsend Christmas party. Every year we have such a good time eating some yummy food. Visiting with our dear family and opening presents from each other. We missed the families that don't live close enough to enjoy these family parties with us. But they are there in our hearts. Thanks mom and dad for all your hard work putting it together.
